Tumpak Sewu Waterfall in Lumajang offers a magnificent water curtain, exciting trekking, natural pools, and exotic views that captivate the hearts of tourists.

Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, located on the border of Lumajang Regency and Malang Regency, is one of the best natural tourist destinations in Indonesia.

Dubbed as the “Niagara of East Java,” this waterfall has a natural beauty that is hard to find anywhere else.

Its magnificent curtain of water, the clear flow of the Glidik River, and the backdrop of Mount Semeru make this place a hidden paradise that is a must-visit for nature lovers.

History of Tumpak Sewu Waterfall

Before becoming a popular tourist destination, Tumpak Sewu Waterfall was only known to local people. Initially, residents were concerned that opening the site to the public could damage its natural beauty.

However, thanks to the support of the Lumajang Regency government which promised maintenance, facilities, and environmental preservation, this place was finally inaugurated as a tourist attraction.

In a short time, Tumpak Sewu has attracted the attention of local and international tourists, making it one of East Java’s leading destinations.

The Beauty of Tumpak Sewu Waterfall

Tumpak Sewu is known for its unique shape as a tiered waterfall. The widening water flow creates a view like a giant curtain, with the heavy water discharge producing a thin mist that often reflects rainbows.

This beauty is further enhanced by the surrounding green environment which originates from tropical vegetation. The source of this waterfall is the Glidik River which originates from Mount Semeru, providing a consistent flow of water throughout the year.

The beauty of Tumpak Sewu comes not only from its shape which resembles a water curtain, but also from its calming natural atmosphere.

The presence of frequent rainbows, the roar of the water, and the backdrop of Mount Semeru make this place a perfect escape from the city routine.

In addition, Tumpak Sewu is one of the few waterfalls in Indonesia that has a stable water discharge throughout the year, so tourists can visit it at any time without worrying about losing its charm.
